Shurflo® Pump Strainer
Shurflo Wing-Nut Strainer with 1/2-Inch Hose Barb
The Shurflo 255-225 wing-nut strainer is designed to protect compatible Shurflo pumps by preventing dirt, resin and other debris from entering the pump head.
It connects directly to the inlet port of Shurflo pumps with compatible 1/2-inch male ports, including the Shurflo 8000-946-138 12V pump. The opposite end features a 1/2-inch hose barb for connecting standard 12mm garden hose.
The transparent filter bowl allows you to see when cleaning is required, while the removable 50-mesh stainless-steel screen can be rinsed and reused.
IMPORTANT: THIS LISTING IS FOR ONE STRAINER ONLY. THE PUMP, HOSE, HOSE CLIPS, CONTROLLER, FITTINGS AND ALL OTHER ACCESSORIES ARE NOT INCLUDED.
Protect Your Shurflo Pump
Small particles of dirt, water-softening resin and tank debris can enter a pump and prevent its internal valves from sealing correctly. This can cause reduced pressure, irregular water flow or complete pump failure.
Installing this strainer before the pump creates a protective barrier that helps keep contaminants away from the pump head.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does this strainer fit the Shurflo 8000-946-138 pump?
A: Yes. It is suitable for the Shurflo 8000-946-138 and other compatible Shurflo pumps with 1/2-inch male inlet ports.
Q: Which side of the pump does it fit?
A: It must be fitted to the pump’s inlet or suction side. It is not intended for installation on the pressurised outlet side.
Q: What size hose connects to the strainer?
A: The barbed inlet accepts standard 12mm or 1/2-inch garden hose.
Q: Why does my pump need a strainer?
A: A strainer prevents dirt, resin and other particles from entering the pump head. Contamination can interfere with the internal valves, reduce pressure and damage the pump.
Q: Can the filter be cleaned and reused?
A: Yes. The transparent bowl can be removed, and the stainless-steel screen can be rinsed and reused.
Q: Is the hose clip included?
A: No. This listing is for the strainer only. The pump, hose, hose clips and all other accessories must be purchased separately.
Q: How often should the strainer be cleaned?
A: Inspect it regularly and clean it whenever visible debris begins collecting inside the transparent bowl. Systems exposed to resin or tank debris may require more frequent cleaning.
